Lisa Smith's Handle With Care is a series of bags that makes innovative use of materials, closures and handles. The material combinations; basket weaving in leather, porcelain handles with rubber cast inserts, leather with silkscreen prints, terra-cotta with a metal cast core, and a large bronze hook or a ball and joint closure in aluminum and plastic. "The seed of this project lay in the frustration of the lack of innovation in the hard components (closures and handles) within the bag and apparel industry. As a result, these bags have been designed around the components instead of them simply being an after thought.". The collection will be presented in Milan next month.
